The medical records clerk will work within the scope of his/her job description using the demonstrated competencies consistent with the role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines for release of protected health information.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with patients, providers, coworkers, and the general public.
Ability to perform job duties in an effective and timely manner.
Ability to function with minimal supervision.
Ability to organize and use time and resources effectively.
Ability to accurately record and input data in an EHR system and other overlay systems.
Ability to monitor and maintain electronic incoming files for all clinic locations.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions timely and accurately.
Competent in both oral and written English.
Ability to provide effective customer service within the work environment.
Ability to multitask and work with interruptions.
Ability to keep patient and staff information confidential.
Ability to function as an effective and productive team member.
Ability to travel to other sites, if needed.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during the workday.
Qualifications/Education Requirements To qualify for this position, the candidate will be a graduate of an accredited high school or in receipt of a GED certificate; medical office or similar practice experience required.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a caring and positive attitude.
Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team.
Core Competencies Provides professional customer service when communicating with patients and external parties requesting medical records.
Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
Maintains an orderly and organized work area.
Performs required tasks according to written procedures and is consistent with established processes for assigned job role.
Must document and update data in the EHR in a timely manner.
Must scan releases of information accurately and maintain logs of actions regarding actions taken to release requested information.
Returns phone calls in a timely manner providing requested information.
Arrives on time.
Performs other duties as requested or required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
