The Deputy Chief of Staff will report directly to the Chief of Staff for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The Veterans Health Care System includes Biloxi, MS; Mobile, AL, Eglin, FL; Panama City, FL and Pensacola, FL. The primary location for this position will be Biloxi; however, incumbent may be physically located at any of the campuses within the Health Care System as the Chief of Staff seems fit to accommodate workload. Duties include but not limited to:
Position is primarily administrative; however, occasionally a portion of time may be dedicated to direct patient care.
Serves as a principal assistant to the Chief of Staff in all clinical, administrative, and performance matters.
Develop and promote the professional development of the health care professionals in relevant activities.
Oversee, develop and manage specialty programs such as Women''s Health Program, Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn and other programs.
Develops and monitors quality improvement measures for process improvement for the medical center to be in compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements and standards.
Develop short and long-ranges goals and objectives that meet the mission of Veterans Health Administration and the needs of the Veterans served.
Participate in Academic Affiliation activities.
Participate in or Chair compensation panels and/or Professional Stands Board.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Prior management experience highly desirable.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a full range of physical activities, including lifting, pulling, pushing, reachingabove the shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, repeated bending, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, emotional/mental stability.
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements :
Must be a U.S. Citizen. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
Must be proficient in written and spoken English. (Physicians appointed to direct patient care position must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C 7402(d) and 7407(d)).
Must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: 1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. 2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. 3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or District of Columbia as qualifying for the full or unrestricted license.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
