AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

This position is located within Engineering Service under the Maintenance and Repair Section within the Air Conditioning Shop.
The incumbent performs as a journeyman level Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic conducting installation, operation, preventive maintenance, and repair on all refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment and all support equipment including the energy management computer system (EMCS).
This position will be operating at the main VA Gulf Coast campus in Biloxi, Mississippi, but may be required form time to time to perform maintenance services at any one of the outpatient clinics located in Mobile, Alabama, Pensacola, Eglin, or Panama City Beach, Florida.
Incumbent works on all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment throughout this medical center.
Monitors and operates 5100 ton air conditioning plant.
Installs, repairs, replaces, and fabricates parts necessary to effect air conditioning, ventilation, chiller plant, boiler plant, and refrigeration repairs of all types.
Works on stand-alone computer cabinets.
Maintains, repairs, and replaces pneumatic and electric controls on various types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Monitors and operates the Energy Management Computer System.
Monitors the status of the environmental control systems and take appropriate actions, monitoring alarms including command set points and temperature changes.
Installs, programs, repairs, and replaces various types and sizes of variable frequency (speed) drives.
Performs major maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and troubleshooting on equipment associated with all air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment and systems.
Refers to technical orders, blueprints, schematics, and other technical publications.
Follows policy of Section 608 of the Clean Air Act that pertains to the recovery and venting of all refrigerants purchased and used.
Responds to emergency callbacks on weekends, holidays, and after regular duty hours to make repairs that are deemed critical for patient care or comfort.
May be required to volunteer from time to time to stay after normal duty hours in the event of an all hazards critical event, which directly affects patient care.
Must adhere to fire, safety, and security requirements.
As a journeyman level mechanic, will be required to give on-the-job training and instructions to the WG-08 mechanics, as required, from time to time.
Responsible for proactive behaviors in presenting, identifying, and reporting actual and potentially unsafe patient care situations.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
