This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Uses the computer to access patient information and enter information regarding surveys and screens, and education provided to patients and family members. Performs work in a safe manner providing a safe environment for patients, self and other staff, for example, using, isolation procedures, and body mechanics. Recognizes and reports potentially hazardous practices and environmental conditions. Provides a full range of practical nursing care with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems. Assists with and transfers patients in, to and from the exam table, wheelchair, chair and or stretcher. Escort patients to appointment within the hospital and off station as assigned. Utilizes safe patient handling equipment as appropriate to prevent injury to peers, patient and self. Collects, test and process specimens of body secretions, tissue and secretions according to establish procedures. Administers and records medications (prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and or monitors IV's, (if permitted by documented certification and competency) medications. Observes for and documents patients response to medication administered and the reports any noted change in patient's condition to RN or MD/DO Measures, reports, and/or documents vital parameters of body functions and changes in physical, mental, or behavioral states as indicated. Cares for, observes, and documents the physical, mental, and behavioral states of patients on special observation in accordance with defined procedure. The employee provides patient care, which is appropriate to the cognitive, emotional and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient. Makes caring for veteran his/her priority while in the work setting and demonstrates customer service principles in all aspects of work. Performs treatments of patients using medical and surgical aseptic techniques, according to define local facility policies and procedures for would care suture staple removal, setting up sterile fields, and assist physician or registered nurse with other procedures. .Seeks opportunities to present in-service education as staff learning needs are identified. Participates in/ leads work groups, teams and /or committees and supports the Center QM/QI activities. Attends in-service education for all new equipment and procedures and disseminates information to others on the unit or other areas as needed. Complies and adheres to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reprocessing/cleaning Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as defined by Medical Center policies/procedures. Performs documentation to standards set by the VISN and National leadership, to helping meeting the benchmarks for performance indicators. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and/or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)(www.acenursing.org) at the time the program was completed by the applicant. OR Health care education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as an LPN/LVN licensure will be accepted as meeting the education requirements for VHA employment. Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency:

In addition to the basic qualification requirements, applicants must have demonstrated evidence of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities determined to be essential for satisfactory performance in the position. 1. At least two (2) years clinical experience as an LPN is required. 2. Outpatient experience is desired 3. Ability to practice cooperative and professional interpersonal communications with diverse multidisciplinary team 4. Ability to work with patients exhibiting a variety of physical problems. 5. Ability to collect and record a variety of patient data in a computer based electronic medical record system. 6. Ability to perform direct nursing care in compliance with organization standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. 7. Skilled in patient and family education for patient medications and disease processes. 8. Ability to work with Mental Health patients with behavioral problems 9. and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities a. Completion of at least one (1) year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent. b. Technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. c. Knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Completed work should need only a general review by a RN or MD/DO for appropriateness and conformity with established policies/procedures. d. Ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education. In organizing and delivering care , the LPN/LVN recognizes and considers emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age related factors. e. Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures. Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medications/treatments, promptly and accurately documenting noted changes, and reporting any deviations from normal to RN or MD/DO. f. Knowledge and ability to recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed. g. Knowledge and understanding of human behavior, patient motivations and reactions to situations, and ability to appropriately utilize this knowledge in working effectively with patients, family members, and other staff. h. Establishes constructive relationships with individual patients and their families to elicit feelings and attitudes, and to promote positive relationships, communication and socialization skills. Fosters an environment of respect for individual patient and family rights to privacy and dignity in all aspects of care delivery. Effectively incorporates knowledge and understanding of established customer service standards in all interactions with patients, family members, and/or other internal/external customers. i. Knowledge and skill in performing support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure. Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPNs/LVNs or NAs/HTs related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures. j. This position requires keen visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia and/or psychiatric disorders.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
