The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implements environmental policies, procedures, and systems. Facilitates the exchange of environmental information to staff, including development and implementation of training and education programs. Communicates regularly with committees as well as hosting Coordinates industrial hygiene activities, supports the development of integrated planning for all facilities within the region. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations. Supports the development of facility industrial hygiene policies programs and procedural documentation. Manages computer program and databases. Ensures that policies and programs are coordinated with and supportive of other clinical and administrative services. Plans, conducts or directs special studies when concerned with occupational health problems. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Pans, directs, coordinates, designs, implements, evaluates, and monitors a comprehensive Industrial Hygienist Program and serves as a technical authority on industrial hygiene and related issues. Responsible for the recognition, evaluation, and control of the environmental, planning and implementation comprehensive industrial hygiene programs. The employee assumes a lead role in the development of industrial hygiene goals, policy, and procedural documentation. Ensures policies and programs are coordinated with and Supportive of other clinical and administrative services. Develops and recommends control techniques and preventive measures to eliminate hazardous exposures to employees and/or unsafe conditions. Conducts loss control and risk management surveys to identify potential unsafe conditions to the visitors, patients, and employees of Indian Health Service facilities. Receives and disposes of hazardous wastes and maintains appropriate records in accordance with existing Environmental Protection Education:
All applicants must possess one of the following in order to meet minimum qualifications for this position. A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health or sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences or related sciences; OR A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology or industrial hygiene; OR Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Physical Requirements:
Incumbent is required to carry a good deal of equipment and involves walking, standing, bending, climbing or crawling during surveys. Work is primarily performed in an office but duties include examination of indoor and outdoor areas sometimes in extreme temperatures. Setting is stressful due to the number of daily contact with people who have various needs as stress from the work volume and meeting of deadlines. Incumbent is subjected to all the risks and discomforts associated with industrial activities of the agency. Exposure requires the use of protective clothing and equipment, including respirators, hardhats and ear protectors. May encounter exposure to hazardous materials including biological, chemical and radioactive agents. Incumbent must utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
